Our Story

Mama Lim is the heart and soul behind our brand. The name, lovingly used by her children, is synonymous with incredible food and unwavering dedication. Known far and wide within her family and community, Mama Lim’s identity has always been deeply tied to her remarkable cooking.

Her journey with food began as a means of survival during the Khmer Rouge era—a chapter in history that shaped her resilience and creativity – that is a story in itself. For those unfamiliar with that time, it’s worth a Google search to truly appreciate the strength and resourcefulness it took to endure.

Mama Lim’s culinary legacy continued when she owned a beloved Cambodian and Chinese restaurant in Springvale, Melbourne. People of all backgrounds travelled from afar just to experience her cooking. During busy hours, the restaurant was always buzzing, with every seat filled by loyal customers eager to savour her creations. Here, she started cultivating many of her sauces, including  Secret Sauce #1 to create over 10 of her famous wok dishes.

Now retired, Mama Lim hasn’t hung up her apron. She continues to spoil her family with restaurant-quality meals at home, prepared with the same secret sauces  that made her a community icon.

Her ability to consistently create flavourful, perfectly balanced dishes has always fascinated me. I couldn’t help but think, “These recipes deserve to be shared with the world.” And so, here I am—learning from her, preserving her techniques, and adding a modern twist of my own to bring her culinary magic to your table.
